Superintendents Series: Mental Health & Wellness of the Superintendent

Superintendent is not a nine to five job.
It is a 24 hour role with public accountability, constant decision making, and very little margin for pause.
On March 11, Parsec Education will close out its Superintendent Webinar Series with Mental Health and Wellness of the Superintendent, a conversation about burnout, boundaries, and what it truly takes to sustain leadership over time.
The demands of district leadership do not power down at the end of the day. Board meetings run late. Community concerns arrive early. The inbox does not believe in weekends. In this session, superintendents will speak candidly about how they manage stress, build support systems, and remain grounded in a role that rarely slows down.
You will hear from:
Bob Nelson, Former Superintendent, Fresno Unified School District
Dan Stecken, Superintendent, Seneca Township High School
Dr. Catherine Stephens, Superintendent, Tullahoma City Schools
Darin Brawley, Superintendent, Compton Unified School District
Melanie Matta, Superintendent, Hope Elementary
Together, they will explore:
• What burnout looks like and how leaders work to prevent it
• Setting boundaries in a role that never fully turns off
• Wellness strategies that work in practice, not just in theory
Leadership longevity does not happen by accident. It requires intention, support, and honest conversation.
