Meet Misun

Why do you choose to work in education?

It’s because I'm a natural educator at heart. It all started when I majored in math education in college and spent seven years teaching in an elementary school in Korea. Now, I'm a mom to two little ones, and I'm pursuing a graduate degree in mathematics education at Fresno State. Education is my one true passion. That's why I believe Parsec Education is the perfect fit for me.

What is something you’ve learned since joining the team?

Since joining the team at Parsec Education, I've learned that my team members stay in constant touch with schools, teachers, and students, given their role in handling educational data. Instead of simply crunching numbers and presenting data, I've seen my team work with teachers to brainstorm how to use data to be most effective for their students. It's made me realize the importance of looking at data through the lens of what's best for the students.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I want to visit all the states in the U.S. that I haven't been to yet, whether it takes a few months or over a few years. The reason behind this is that the U.S. compared to Korea has all the diverse geographical conditions and climates on Earth. Honestly, I have plans to go to the Grand Canyon and Disney World in Florida in the next few months.

When you aren’t at the office, we might find you…

When you aren’t at the office, we might find you at a yoga place. Yoga has been my hobby and energy since my 20s.

Why do you choose to work in education?

Education faces numerous challenges, from improving student performance to enhancing resource allocation. These challenges can be intellectually stimulating, and by working in education, I have the chance to apply my analytical skills to solve real-world problems. Many people find working in education to be personally fulfilling. Knowing that my work contributes to the growth and development of future generations can be incredibly rewarding.

What is something you’ve learned since joining the team?

What I have learned since joining the team is through hands-on experience, I've improved my skills in data collection, analysis, and interpretation. I've learned to work with various data sources, including student performance data, demographic information, and educational resource allocation data. In addition, since becoming a part of the team, I've discovered a thriving community of individuals who are not only exceptionally knowledgeable but also incredibly supportive.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

One destination in the world I am eager to visit is Garcia De La Cadena, located in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico. It holds a special place in my heart as the hometown where my grandparents raised my mother and her siblings. I often listen to the captivating tales of their picturesque land.

What are you most excited for in your career journey?

What truly excites me about my career journey is the boundless array of possibilities. I eagerly anticipate the prospect of enrolling in a Master's program next year, with a choice between Data Science or Artificial Intelligence as my area of focus.
