Hope Elementary’s Superintendent and 5th grade Math and Science Teacher

Melanie Matta is a small school Superintendent/Principal whose commitment to educational equity is unwavering. For over 20 years, she has been a tireless advocate for underserved communities, working to bridge the achievement gap and create a more inclusive and equitable educational landscape. Her dedication to diversity and inclusion has had a profound impact on students and educators alike. In addition to her leadership within the education sector, Melanie is a thought leader, speaker, and mentor. She has shared her insights and expertise on educational leadership at events across the state. Melanie’s passion for mentoring emerging leaders has helped shape the next generation of educational visionaries.
 
Flor Vidaurri Martinez is a dedicated educator with a Master’s in Mathematics Education from Fresno Pacific University, where she currently serves as an adjunct professor. With over eight years of teaching experience, Flor specializes in math and science education, drawing on a strong foundation in inquiry-based learning and the Common Core State Standards. She enjoys working in her math classes, putting to practice the principles she teaches at FPU, and believes that “Building Thinking Classrooms” is the secret to fostering student engagement and deeper learning. Additionally, Flor is passionate about mentoring new teachers and providing individualized support to students, encouraging growth and a love for STEM fields.
