Moneisha Washington is a 9th grade student at Justin Garza High School with a focus on leadership, athletics, and cultural advocacy. She currently serves as the Outreach Cultural Ambassador and President of the Black Student Union, roles that reflect her dedication to promoting inclusivity and student engagement. Moneisha has also demonstrated leadership as the team captain of her school’s volleyball team.
In addition to her leadership positions, Moneisha is actively involved in extracurricular activities, including track and field, volleyball, and her ongoing efforts to support cultural outreach within her school community.
After high school, Moneisha plans to attend UCLA to pursue a doctorate in Civil Engineering with a minor in ASL studies, aiming to establish her own architectural company focused on home design. Alternatively, she is considering majoring in Political Science with a minor in Business Communications to prepare for a career as a lawyer or in the political field.
Moneisha’s passion for academics, leadership, and service reflects her commitment to creating a meaningful impact in both her local community and future career.
Bryson SV Barnes is a 10th grade student at Justin Garza High School – Central United School District and is the secretary of their Black Student Union. When done with high school Bryson plans to go to Oregon State University to receive my degree (Masters or higher) in Biochemistry. An alternate plan is to receive my doctorate degree in Education to become a school principal, or to receive a degree (Masters or higher) in Computer Science to become a teacher.
Karai Page is an 11th grader at Central High School focused on completing college prerequisites and earning an Associate’s Degree before graduation. With plans to major in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology, Karai is passionate about building a strong foundation for a future in science.
A natural leader, Karai serves as the President of the Black Student Union and is an E-Board member for the Interact Club, demonstrating a commitment to fostering community and school involvement.
Beyond academics, Karai is actively involved in extracurricular activities, playing varsity soccer, running track, and volunteering at festivals, zoos, and shelters.
After high school, Karai plans to attend the University of California, Santa Barbara, majoring in Biology or Chemistry, with the goal of continuing to make a positive impact in the community and beyond.
Aminah Carter is a 12th grader at Clovis North with an emphasis in pre-medicine with a major in Biological Sciences or Public Health and a minor in dance. Aminah has held multiple leadership roles, including Treasurer of the Black Student Union, Founder and President of the Type 1 Diabetes Club, and a founding member of Hope Squad for six years. Aminah also serves on the Superintendent’s Student Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council and the African American Student Council.
Extracurricular activities include competitive dance, varsity pep squads, and involvement in Key Club, Youth Helping Youth, and scholarship programs like California Scholarship Federation. Aminah has presented at leadership conferences and performed in Las Vegas with musical artists Tove Lo and Nicky Youre.
Post-secondary plans include continuing education at one of the six UC campuses applied to, or at USC, Stanford, or Fresno State, pursuing a career as a healthcare professional.
