Getting Started: A Tour of Parsec Clarity for CA Partners
Note: This article is specific to our partners in California.
Why this matters
When you first log in, it's not always obvious where everything lives or what each section is for. This article walks through the home page, navigation, and each core area of the Parsec Clarity platform — Dashboards, Rankings, Strategic, and Parsec Real — so you can get oriented quickly and start pulling the data you actually need.
Who it's for
- District and charter school administrators logging in for the first time
- Anyone who wants a refresher on where things live in the platform
- No prior experience with the platform is required
Step-by-step
Find your way around the navigation pane
On the left-hand side of your screen, you'll see your navigation pane. This is home base — from here you can move between Dashboards, Rankings, and Strategic (currently in Beta).
There's a small three-line icon in the upper-left corner. Clicking it collapses the navigation pane, giving you more screen space for whatever content you're viewing.
If your organization has access to Parsec Real, you'll see a small down arrow next to "Clarity." Clicking it lets you jump into Parsec Real or into Settings.
Tip: Settings is also where you manage users, workspaces, and your own profile.
Pin your favorite dashboards to the home page
When you first start out, your home page will have space to pin up to four dashboards — the ones you want to jump into right away every time you log in.
To add one, select it from the list (for example, the California School Dashboard, CAASPP, ELPAC, or Enrollment) and choose to add it to your home page.
Once pinned, you can hover over a dashboard tile to add a short description or remove it using the small X that appears.
Use Dashboards to view your data
Clicking into Dashboards takes you to your available reports. From here you can:
- Switch between public data and local data
- Search to isolate a specific dashboard if you have several (for example, typing "CAASPP" will narrow the list down to just that dashboard)
Use Rankings to benchmark against similar schools or districts
The Rankings section houses Clarity Rankings. From here, you can find similar schools or districts in California and compare yourself against them using any metric that has a number attached — things like:
| Category | Examples |
|---|---|
| Rate-based metrics | Graduation rate, suspension rate, CCI |
| Proficiency data (no business rules applied) | English Language Arts, Math, Science, ELPAC |
This data is available at both the county and school level, depending on what's available for that metric. You'll walk through a few parameters to get to the comparison you're looking for.
Use Strategic (Beta) to track your strategic plan
Clicking into Strategic — currently in Beta — lets you upload your strategic plan. From there, AI parses out your metrics, goals, and actions, visualizes them, and gives you a way to monitor progress over time.
Monitor your actions using Parsec Real
If you have access to Parsec Real, you can monitor the actions in your strategic plan through the evaluation component, which keeps track of every evaluation you've completed.
